Willow’s Flame

Paperback

So, what is it exactly that labels one a serial killer? Is it the amount of people that you kill, statistically speaking? What if the killing is within reason? Can the murder, or murders be justified? If the world is a better place without the people who are killed, is it really such a tragedy?

A serial killer is typically a person who murders three or more people, usually in service of abnormal psychological gratification, with the murders taking place over more than a month and including a significant period of time between them. – https://en.m.Wikipedia.org

In what would seem to be a cozy home in Chicago, a young couple seem to have it all, Willow finds herself questioning the life she chose with her husband Neil. When his secrets begin to unfold, she gets caught up in a spicy affair with Brock, who she met at a book club. It turns out Neil isn’t the only one bearing secrets.  Pauleen, who’s named The Nosey Neighbor hears it all through the thin walls and starts to connect the dots herself when poor, sweet Willow goes missing.

“A terrifyingly wicked psychological thriller” Alisa H. Klinger, author of The Perfect Move.

This book surpassed all my expectations!!
▪The story begins from Willow narrating her experience of the most tragic nights of her life.Willow and Neil are married but problems have started coming in.Neil is suspicious about his wife.He finds that she’s having an affair with a guy named Brock.Their affairs continues despite the fact that Neil knows about it.
▪After few months Willow goes missing.Neil is searching for her.Brock too seems clueless about her.
▪What do you think is the secret Neil is hiding? Why is he not reacting despite knowing the fact that his wife is cheating on him. What is the role of this guy Brock. Is he really clueless or there is something that he is hiding too??
▪While narrating her story Willow talks about a psycho predator, but she says she is a murder.Who is been killed and what’s the whole mystery?Find all the answers in the book Willow’s Flame .
▪The story is very craftly woven. It addresses the misogynist mindset of the society from the characters of Brock and Neil. At the same time the book clearly gives the message that a woman is capable of achieving anything she wants to. If she doesn’t want motherhood then that’s too is her choice. From the story of Willow’s mother the book tries to tell it’s readers about the evil effects which a marriage has on children when it is forced upon the other.
▪Every character narrates their story on their own. That gives the reader a chance of understanding the perspective of every character.
▪I like the character of willow for the fact that she had shown the courage to live here life on own terms.
▪The raw emotion and honesty in this book will make it hard for anyone to put down.
    ▪I recommend this to everyone.

    A Terrifyingly Wicked Psychological Thriller!
This story starts out with the protagonist claiming to be a cold blooded killer. Through multiple points of view, the reader discovers what has lead up to this and is on a roller coaster ride filled with suspense. I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it.

  10. Dina Husseini

No doubt one of the most shocking BOOKS I have ever read!

  11. Kristen McFarland

Willow’s Flame was an amazing read! So much happened in this short book. Willow’s struggles and story were chronicled so well that I could feel her emotions like they were my own and picture every scene like I was standing there. There were so many twists and turns throughout the book, once I started reading I couldn’t put it down. I was hooked!  I wanted to jump in to fight for Willow and slap some sense into her a couple of times. And then there’s the ending…not at all what I expected to happen. There have been few books that have drawn me in like this one did. Of course, all of Stephanie’s writings have. Purchase this book and add it to the very top of your TBR pile!

  12. Stephanie Friedman

Easily one of the most shocking book twists I’ve ever had the pleasure to read! Brilliant. Just Brilliant.

  13. Mim K

I was hooked page 1. Good luck trying to put it down!!

I didn’t know anything about Willow’s Flame before I started reading the ARC and I’m so glad. I love thrillers and this one gripped me from the get go. I didn’t want to put it down.

This is a psychological thriller about love, control, infidelity, and all the emotions that go along with it. I was along for the ride with Willow and cringing with her as she tried to navigate her husband and her lover. I also liked the view points from the different characters – Neil, Brock, Pauleen (the nosey neighbour). I was often surprised and found myself wanting to continue to read and find out what happened next. The ending was not what I was expecting either, which was great!

This is a debut novel for Stephanie Friedman and I think she did a great job at capturing my attention and keeping me hooked throughout the story. I’m excited for people to read this novel, and for what she has coming next.

Is this book for you? If you like thrillers, twists and turns, love triangles & marital woes, fast paced storyline, then this book is for you.

  15. Flesherk

Such a great book! Can’t wait to read it again, and more from this great author!

  16. Kathy Pier

Great book, keep you on the edge of your seats. Love love love

  17. Pamela Crocker

I really enjoyed this book. It had me from the first word and I never expected the final outcome. This was a nail biter. It kept me on the edge of my seat. I would read it again because I read it so fast, I know I missed something really good. Loved it!

  18. Dan Fish

    Oh, Willow… Why?

This book hooked and twisted and left me breathless at the end. A mentally writhing psychological thriller that had me cheering and loathing and gasping in equal parts. I mean: chains?

    Chains??

In a heavyweight genre, Fields throws big punches. Her characters are vivid, imperfect, believable. The premise is just relatable enough to feel like it could be someone you know. The pacing kept me turning pages from start to finish.

Great book from a great author. And I’m anxiously awaiting her next.

  19. Samantha Clayton

Willow’s Flame had me enthralled throughout the entire story! The continuous element of unexpected surprises kept me on the edge of my seat not knowing what to expect next. The raw emotions and hedonistic aspects within every character had me wondering about my own daily existentialism. Plus the real life situations being played out throughout the novel really caused me to feel like I was truly there with each of the characters; engaged within the dialogue of each of their thoughts, feelings and conversations that almost felt intrusive at times but in a good way. I relished being able to vicariously insert myself into certain situations with each of the characters and how that could relate to my own life. Willow’s Flame is so enchanting yet hair-raising that I just couldn’t put it down!

  20. Karen Haltiwanger

A couple stumbles across a young woman curled in a fetal position. She has been in the field for days. Her arms are bruised and her hair is matted and tangled. She’s covered in leaves, grass, mud stains and blood. She is unable to tell them what happened and they assume she has been the victim of a brutal attack.

What follows is the story of Willow, told in multiple points of view. Her husband, Neil, tells of his love and powerful jealousy of Willow and his suspicion that his marriage is failing. Brock, her lover, tells of his intense love and his need to have Willow to himself.
Willow describes her inner conflict. This triangle results in an astonishing climax. Who will survive to tell the story?

This is a quick read and it is full of twists. The chapters are short and easy to follow. The author does a great job developing the characters so the reader feels the passion and frustration as a tale full of jealousy, secrets, and deception unfolds. Read this if you love a slow burning thriller.
    ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My thanks to the author for my advanced copy!

    Cured my reading slump!

For months I have been picking up books, just to get a chapter or two in and throw them back down. Willow’s Flame changed all that! Hooking me from the very first paragraph, all I wanted to do was find out what happened next. As I got closer to the middle I had to keep on reading to know how everything tied together.

    *Short Synopsis no spoilers!*
Willow is newly married into what turns out to be a very toxic relationship. Taking a lover, she feels alive again for the first time in months.  Then comes a twist you won’t believe.

    *Thoughts*
The pov moves around to include all the characters. Usually I am not a fan, since it can become confusing or boring. Not the case here. Each pov is masterfully written and easy to follow. The details are rich and the story is suspenseful. Fields really knows how to pull you in and keep you emotionally invested. Never have I hated a character more or felt a suspicious unease with another.

As a picky reader trust me when I say you need to pick up Willow’s Flame. You won’t be disappointed.

(Received ARC but all thoughts/opinions are honest and my own.)

I was so excited to receive the ARC copy of Willows Flame. I was one of the few that did not like Gone Girl so I was worried when I saw the comparisons in other reviews. However, from page one I was hooked.  Stephanie Fields knows how to grab her readers and suck them in from the start.
I hated the sexism & machonginy but you should always have someone to hate in a book! & I was rooting for Willow the whole way. Highly recommended!
