Authors MUST Invest In Themselves to WIN by Debi Stanton, President Pen It!
In today’s competitive market, if an author is not willing to invest in themselves they will not be successful. Investing in yourself as an author doesn’t only mean investing your time, it means investing money and resources to grow your craft. Take some classes, read some literature on writing, read blogs, search for similar books like yours and look at everything from the cover to the back blurb. There are many ways that you can invest in marketing your book, but you must also market yourself. You are your brand!
- Make sure your appearance is neat and professional during appearances, book fairs, book signings.
- Commit as much money toward classes, conferences and workshops as you can. Take a new class, etc. at least once a month if possible. Pen It offers an array of classes for only $20.00 per class, Visit our Classes page for more information.
- Set up and maintain an author page on Facebook and Amazon Central. Update your page at least once a month, more if you have events coming up.
- Network with other authors to learn as much as you can.
